It Takes Two to Talk®
The It Takes Two to Talk Program is uniquely designed to assist parents of young children (birth to 5 years of age) with a speech and language delay. The program helps parents learn practical facilitation techniques to help their children increase their language skills throughout their day.
Parents who participate in the “It Takes Two to Talk” program will leave sessions with increased knowledge on how to become their child’s best language teacher. The program teaches you how to:
Identify your child’s communication stage and style
Determine your child’s motivation to communicate their wants and needs
Use several strategies to increase your child’s confidence and inspire them to communicate
Modify daily routines to encourage your to engage in turn-taking and reciprocal social interactions
Follow your child’s lead to increase communication confidence
Speak to your child in ways that will help them better understand what you are saying
Incorporate strategies when playing and reading books together with your child to increase their ability to interact and increase their language

It Takes Two to Talk was created by several speech-language pathologists and is based on extensive research. This evidence-based program has been proven to result in positive effects for young children with communication difficulties
When participating in It Takes Two to Talk Parents can expect to learn a variety of speech-language strategies that can be easily embedded within their unique daily routines.
